A Co-op Preschool
A cooperative preschool is a non-profit organization. Professionals are hired to run the day to day operations but the preschool is administered by the parents. By taking active roles in a coop preschool parents can take an active role in their children’s education.
We encourage daily communication regarding your child. Pertinent information that would help the teachers relate more sensitively throughout the day is more helpful. Visits from parents are welcome at any time.
Parents are encouraged to participate on our voluntary Board of Directors. Please inform Lamplighter’s Supervisor if you are at all interested.
A Parent Survey will go out yearly, to evaluate our program, staff and environment. This will help us to make any necessary changes with the feedback we receive, so you may have the best in quality care!
Lamplighter holds an Annual General Meeting yearly, usually in June. Notice will go out in advance and we encourage parents to come and hear the current news and future of Lamplighter Preschool and offer opinions and ideas. This event is advertised and open to the public. Usually nominations and/or announcements for positions on the Board of Directors are also held at this time.
Lamplighter Preschool is a non-profit centre with a volunteer Board of Directors. We require extra funds for toys and equipment. Therefore, the school periodically organizes special fundraising events. If you could please help participate in any way, or have fundraising ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!
Lamplighter Preschool is a registered Charitable Organization. Parents and the public, who wish to make a monetary donation, will receive a receipt for income taxes.
